Second Life and Education Podcasts

Second Life is a 3D user generated virtual world that has been exploding in the web. I know I am a little late to the grand opening but some friends and colleagues have been asking about Second Life and the impact on education. I am posting links of two excellent podcasts by Steve Hargadon, one of the most famous edubloggers, that give a great intro about what Second Life is and what the educational possibilities are. Both episodes are from Haragdon’s EdtechLive series.
The first podcasts is an interview with Gavin Dudeney of The Consultants-E, who founded the EduNation island in Second Life. He gives a great background and overview of Second Life. To listen to the show podcast and view the show notes click here.
The second podcast is an interview with Sarah Robbins, a PhD. student from Ball State University, who taught a creative writing college course in Second Life which gives you some great ideas about the possibilities of using this virtual world with education.
